This home page will give you some background information about the Pronto/3D2 program.
The Pronto program originally started more than five years ago as a joint project between CRI, Bruker, and Carlsberg A/S. The first version, released in 1992, supported analysis of 2D spectra only. This version was sold as a commercial product by Pronto Software, Development and Distribution. Later, a 3D version of the program was released. This was made after a major redesign of the data base and the user interface. The program supports analysis of 2D, 3D, and 4D NMR spectra.
Today's version of the program, Pronto 3D2, is named so because you can analyse multidimensional spectra as well as display 3D protein structures. This version is made available, free of charge, from Carlsberg Laboratory - both to academic and profit institutions.
Please quote the following publication in articles for which Pronto has been used: Kjær,M., Andersen,K.V., and Poulsen,F.M.: Automated and semiautomated analysis of homo- and heteronuclear multidimensional nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of proteins: the program PRONTO. Methods in Enzymology 239 288-308 1994.
Download the version you need, install it, run it, note the serial number of your machine as it is printed by the program, fill in the license form and a license code will be mailed to you. The address for downloading is ftp.crc.dk, directory /pub/pronto
Currently, the following platforms are supported:
Version 20080414 has been compiled under CentOS 4.6. It requires openmotif-2.2.3. We don't provides SGI versions any more.
See the installation section of the manual to see what to do with the downloaded file.
Please read important information if you already have a version of Pronto installed. Also note important information if you want to run the Linux version of Pronto.
The manual is available in HTML format.
You can download the whole manual as a gzip'ed tar archive.
A mailing list has been set up for Pronto. Send a mail containing the word "subscribe" to: email@example.com. The mailing list is archived.
A short (outdated) FAQ (Frequently asked Questions - and their Answers) is available. Click here.
A slide show describing aspects of processing of Varian data is here.
Pronto can now read data processed by NMRPipe, see here.
