The Tours Program

Viking Tour, Roskilde:

Monday, June 30th, 2003, 10 am-4 pm

Price: 40 Euro. Lunch expense not included.

Minimal attendance: 16 persons.

You are brought thousands of years back into history when introduced to the bronze-age and the intriguing history of the Vikings. We visit the Viking Ship Museum, set in the Vikings natural harbor, today called Roskilde Fjord.

These Viking ships have been carefully restored and are the most important discovery ever made in Denmark from this ancient period. The tour continues to the 5000 year old Passage Grave at Øm, where you will be given the extraordinary chance to visit one of the graves, older than the Pyramids. Time for lunch and chance to enjoy the traditional Danish buffet at the picturesque Svogerslev Kro (lunch is not included in the tour price). After lunch a relaxing drive through villages gone by awaits. Our final stop on this historical tour is the City of Roskilde. Roskilde was the capital of ancient Denmark. Here we pay a visit to the great Roman Cathedral of Roskilde with its 38 royal tombs. This tour to Roskilde will reveal many secrets about the ancient daily life of Denmark.

Castle Tour, North Sealand:

Tuesday, July 1st, 2003, 10 am-5.30 pm

Price: 50 Euro. Lunch expense not included.

Minimal attendance: 16 persons.

As we leave Copenhagen and head north, for almost an hour, the coastline of Sweden presents itself to us. We drive through magnificent Danish countryside and along the coastline to Elsinore and Kronborg Castle. It is quite easy to understand why William Shakespeare chose Kronborg Castle as the setting for his famous play 'Hamlet'. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings and feel the atmosphere taken through the Chapel and the Knights' Hall (the longest room in Northern Europe) and the dark casemates. Lunch en route (not included in the tour price).

After the break, our tour continues to Fredensborg. The Queen's Summer residence of Fredensborg palace is attractively located in the middle of a lovely park, bordering the idyllic Esrom lake. The next highlight on this tour of many highlights is Frederiksborg Castle, built by King Christian IV. This pearl of history, built in magnificent Renaissance style, is now a national historical museum. It contains paintings, tapestries, porcelain, silver and furniture of great historical value. This tour is classic amongst excursions while visiting Denmark.
