The Centre for Solid-Phase Organic Combinatorial Chemistry & Molecular Recognition has areas five focus areas:

• Investigation of enzyme activity and inhibition by substrate libraries and one-bead two compound assays.
• Investigation of ligand receptor interaction particularly the study of interaction between carbohydrate and proteins.
• Study of interaction of membrane bound GPCR´s with small molecule ligands.
• Synthesis of artificial receptors for bio-molecules such as amino acids and carbohydrates
• Artificial enzymes based on peptides containing ligands for transition state metals

All of the above areas are developed in order to perform synthesis and assay on solid support in the form of combinatorial libraries. Analysis of results involves solid phase MAS-NMR and high-resolution fragmentation by mass spectrometry. As well as new techniques for encoding of single resin beads.
